May 20, 2020

This is just an update on the reopening of the church:

  • As we announced St. Anne Church will be open for daily Mass beginning at 8am Tuesday, May 26th the day after Memorial Day.  Weekend Masses will begin on the last weekend of May:  May30/31; Weekend Mass times will be the same as usual, meaning 4pm Sat Vigil, 7am, 9am, and 11am.  Please see the update for parishioners on May 19th for more details.  Parishioners will need to be wearing masks as they come into church as well as they should bring sanitizer with them.  Gloves are optional.  Social distancing (6ft apart) will be required for everyone.  Families are considered one person.
  • We are still looking for volunteers to seat people (ushers) and to do cleaning of the church after Mass.  It should not take too long for that to occur with enough volunteers.  If you are interested in volunteering please contact the parish office.  There will be an organizing meeting on Wednesday May 27th from 10am to 11 at the parish hall.  More info will be available at that time.

Additional information as we begin reopening:

  • The parish office will be extending its reduced hours as follows beginning on Tuesday, May 26th:  office hours will be Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, from 8am to 2pm.  Fridays the office will be closed.  We hope to go back to normal hours in Phase III of the Massachusetts reopening.
  • Confessions will be held on Saturdays from 12noon to 1pm beginning May 30th.    They will not be before the 4pm Mass as before because the priest will be needed in the church to help coordinate social distancing etc. before the 4pm Mass.  So if needing confession please come between 12noon and 1pm Saturdays beginning May 30th.
  • Funerals or Memorial Masses will begin once again next week (week of May 25).
  • 1st Communion will be scheduled; specific date not known at this time.
  • Information on Confirmation will be announced when we hear from the diocese.
  • For those ill, or have health issues or concerns, the bishop has extended the dispensation from attending Sunday Mass.  Mass is available through the Chalice of Salvation (Sunday mornings on Channel 22 at 10am), EWTN, Catholic TV or through a live stream.  St. Anne Church will not be live streaming its Mass once the Masses are started up again.  However, there will be plenty of opportunities to view Mass using the alternatives mentioned.
